Joining the Ring

Webring Rules

  • Be a dyke, lesbian, queer woman, or have an identity that is otherwise closely adjacent/aligned with dykehood/under the dyke umbrella(?)--Political lesbians (?) do not count
  • Have content related to dyke+ identity and experience featured on your site; if it would take more than five minutes on your site to realize you're queer, you wont be eligible
  • Be at least 13 years of age (though we strongly prefer you be 16 or older)
  • Not be a storefront, porn site, or social media page (ie Instagram/Mastodon/Tumblr). Having a shop page is okay, being a shop page isn't
  • Have a PG-13 home page, with clear warnings for any content that is not teen-appropriate
  • Not violate United States federal law or local law--this includes advertising FSSW, even if it's adequately warned and legal where you live
  • Add the webring code to your site on either the main page or an easy to locate webring/clique page before applying

Member Expectations

As mentioned, this webring is intended to continue the spirit of the original ring. When DykeWrite was live, it was oriented towards community building, mutual support, and sharing. Our member expectations go for all members (and are basically lifted from the original DykeWrite with some edits).

  • Support each other! Be willing to visit, link and otherwise promote members' pages in an effort to enhance the online dyke/lesbian/queer/trans* community in an effort to eventually take over the world
  • Try to update some of your page (especially blogs) weekly. It's okay if you can't, this isn't attainable for everyone! Just try to let us know if your site will be inactive for more than a month. If you're removed for inactivity (1+ months of no updates), contact us when your site is up again and you'll be added back--you don't need to re-apply!
  • Be involved--individualism is dead! We're here to support each other and strengthen our community, not to get hits from bored web surfers in silence. This can be supporting each other's pages, interacting with members on social media, etc. Intra-ring involvement is what set the original DykeWrite apart, and what still does, so we greatly appreciate you supporting that

Webring Code

Put this on your page where you want the webring to display:

And then stick this right before the </head> tag on that page:

It'll look like this (once you're added)!

Styling the Widget

If you want to change the look of the widget, here's the CSS you'll need to edit! Just stick it wherever you have your site's CSS.
